This poem is a bit silly and more than a bit rubbish but I wrote it and wanted to share it. Rhino tries his best. I guess you’d call it “Have you seen the trees?”

Say, have you seen the trees

recently? At last it seems

like spring is here. You notice

through the dappled beams

the air is warm,

despite the early morning hour.

Say, have you seen the trees

recently? The cherries in your local park

are blossoming. Watch the flower –

oh so tender, oh so pink,

it falls, lightly, on the grass.

A speckled path. A work of art.

Stop, maybe. Pause. Think.

The hawthorn’s buds are yet to bloom.

But will you miss it when they do?

Say, have you seen the trees

recently?

The lonely clouds show in the breaking light

clear, fresh stretches of life.

They bloom. Have you seen

the daffodils, upright

standing, gulping? In a dream,

they are soldiers, in a war

against winter. Winners?

Say, have you seen the trees, my dear?

At last it seems like spring is here.

Even though you weren’t quite clear

if it was going to come this year.

The swallow’s song floats by once more

amidst the calmest breeze.

It isn’t grand, but fill with awe,

and come and see the trees.
